The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx
Nikki Sixx was the bass guitar player and main song writer for Motley Crue. The Heroin Diaries is a book written by Nikki, based off of diaries he filled his thoughts with in the darkest days of his life.
He wrote the book hoping that no one reading it would ever make the same mistakes he did. He was so addicted to heroin and cocaine that he died twice before he decided to save himself and quit.
Nikki was partially raised by his mom in Seattle, and partially by his grandparents in Jerome Idaho. As a teenager he got in lots of trouble, especially for vandalism and shoplifting. When he got expelled from his high school for selling drugs his grandparents sent him back to Seattle to live with his mom. He lived there for a while, and learned how to play the bass guitar. Then he moved to L.A. to live on his own. There he worked at a liquor store to make money while he audition for bands. He got into several bands, but never stayed in them long.
In 1981 Sixx founded Motley Crue with Tommy Lee Mick Mars and Vince Neil. When they released their album Shout at the Devil they became famous. All of the band members binged on Alcohol, Cocaine, and Heroin, but Nikki always did it the most.
On December, 23, 1987 he was declared dead for two minutes from a heroin overdose. However, they managed to revive him. A year earlier on Valentine's day 1986 he had overdosed at a dealer's house, then been thrown in a dumpster. Somehow Sixx came to and survived that incident also.
Nikki went to rehab in 1989, and left sober, and has been since. Motley Crue reformed at the end of 2004, and is still together now.
The lyrics under the picture are from the Motley Crue song Kickstart My Heart which was inspired by the night Nikki OD'd and was revived by paramedics.
Say i got trouble
Trouble in my eyes
I'm just looking for
Another good time
My heart, my heart
Kickstart my heart
When we started this band
All we needed, needed was a laugh
Years gone by...i'd say we've kicked some ass
When i'm enraged
Or hittin' the stage
Adrenalin rushing
Through my veins
And i'd say we're still kickin' ass
Ooo, ahh, kickstart my heart
I hope it never stops
And to think, we did all of this...
