RUBY
by: Francesca Lia Block and Carmen Staton
The book im reading is Ruby. This book isn't exactly what you would call a thriller... but it defffinatly makes you wonder and keeps you having an open mind throughout the whole book. When Ruby was a little girl she remembers her parents fighting all the time. She fluently recalls sitting in the den with listening to her mom and dad fight, and then out of nowhere would see her father strike her little sister for no reason at all. Ruby sat there helplessly time after time not knowing how to help her sister but wishing she knew a way. As she got older she met and did things with boys that she later regreted, but it was the only way she knew to escape from her problems at home. When she was seventeen her family moved to a new city across town where she met and became best friends with a girl named Amy.
AND I LOVE JENNA RAE GUST!!!!
They Cage the Animals at Night
The book im reading is They Cage the Animals at Night by Jennings Michael Burch. This book is a true story of an abandoned child's struggle for emotional survival. One misty eveining in Brooklyn, Jennings Michael Burch's mother, too sick to care for him, left h im at an orphanage, saying only, "I'll be right back." She wasn't. Shuttled through a series of bleak foster homes and institutions, Jennings never remained in any of them long enough to make a friend. Instead, he clung to a tattered stuffed animal, his sole source of warmth in a frightened world. I really like this book. I usually prefer books that i personally can relate to and in this case i cant relate to any part of this book, but in the sense that its a true life experience and is so heart wrenching, its easy for me to keep myself interested and i get really drawed into it. It was also realy super sad. I kindra teared up a little at the end. I could never imagine leaving my child in an institution and getting their hopes up telling them ill be back and not show up. Thats sad! :(:(:(
